R9: a new project of EVO Yachts

A shipyard in Naples has built a reputation for crafting high-speed cruisers with transformable sterns and a high degree of customization. Now, it is embarking on a project that is twice the average length of its previous models: the 30-meter superyacht R9.

The new flagship resembles a boat that has been magically enlarged by Harry Potter's "Engorgio" spell. Designer Valerio Rivellini has maintained his signature aesthetic for the yacht's exterior. The aluminium hull features a powerful, straight bow and a lowered stern with air intakes on the sides—after all, the Italian has a penchant for supercars! The superstructure is shielded by polarised glass, resembling a protective shell. The carbon frames are thin and nearly invisible, giving the yacht a seamless appearance—like a whimsically folded giant origami figure. At the top, there is an additional helm that doubles as an observation deck, protected from sun and spray by the overhanging edge of the glass shell.



On the foredeck in front of the superstructure, there is a lounge area. A large U-shaped sofa with a high back is almost completely shielded from prying eyes. When the yacht is docked, guests can gather at the bow to dine and enjoy each other's company without being disturbed by passersby. The stern area is transformable: sections of the bulwark can open outward, and the swim platform can submerge and rise. This means the beach club will rival that of a 40- or even 50-meter yacht.

While the shipyard has not yet revealed the layout, it will largely be customised, just like the interior finishes. It is known that buyers can choose between three or four cabins, including a master suite, and accommodate up to four crew members on board.



A standout feature of the EVO R9 is its advanced powertrain, which will include two or three engines, each producing 2,200 horsepower. With this setup, the yacht will achieve a maximum speed of 50 to 58 knots and a cruising speed of 40 to 44 knots.
