Boot premiere: Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre
German carmaker Porsche continues to strengthen its ties with the luxury boating world, once again teaming up with Austrian builder Frauscher Boats. The latest result of this high-profile collaboration was unveiled this week at Boot Düsseldorf, where the partners presented the all-new Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre.
Following the earlier joint projects — the Frauscher 850 Fantom Air (2023) and the 850 Fantom (2024) — the new 790 Spectre also draws its power from Porsche’s electric technology. Like its predecessors, it uses the same electric drivetrain found in the flagship version of the Macan electric SUV, the Macan Turbo.
According to Porsche and Frauscher, the 790 Spectre was developed specifically around Porsche’s high-performance electric drive system and engineered entirely to accommodate the Macan Turbo’s high-voltage battery, rear-mounted electric motor and control electronics. The result is a boat designed to set new benchmarks in the premium electric sports-boat segment.
In technical terms, the 790 Spectre is powered by a 100 kWh battery paired with a 536 hp permanent synchronous motor — identical to the setup used in the Macan Turbo. Compared with the earlier Fantom models, the Spectre is lighter, shorter and narrower, measuring just under eight metres (approximately 26 feet) in length.
Stylistically, the boat clearly references the Macan, with Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur programme responsible for the interior finishes. The launch version features a unique Dark Teal Metallic hull colour, created exclusively for this project. Owners can also select custom colours from Porsche’s Paint to Sample programme and personalise the side blades.
The interior closely mirrors Porsche’s automotive design language. The start button is positioned to the left of the steering wheel, which is trimmed in genuine Porsche leatherette. The sports seats — two at the helm and a bench aft — are embossed with the Porsche Crest, while the five circular instruments feature classic Porsche graphics. A bespoke key, finished to match the hull colour, completes the package.
To mark the debut of the 790 Spectre, Porsche also showcased a specially customised Macan Turbo called the Concept Lago. For now, it remains a design study, though the company has not ruled out a future limited production run.
The Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre is already available to order, although pricing has not yet been disclosed.
