«Гранд Отель Европа», открытый в 1875 году, является старейшей гостиницей Санкт-Петербурга. Здание и интерьеры отеля, в 2015 году отмечающего свое 140-летие, внесены в список культурного наследия. Пышный фасад с каннелированными пилястрами с атлантами и кариатидами, оформленный в 1873–1874 году в стиле эклектики, поражал современников. За свою продолжительную историю отель принимал гостей со всего мира. Здесь император Николай II принимал принца Сиама, ужинал П. И. Чайковский, давал концерт сэр Элтон Джон и пела Уитни Хьюстон.
