Eddie Jordan, the legendary entrepreneur, Formula 1 team owner, showman, yachtsman, and ambassador for the Oyster Yachts brand, passed away just ten days before his 77th birthday after a battle with cancer.
A native of Dublin, he began his career in banking but soon developed a passion for motorsport, starting in karting and later moving on to Formula Ford and Formula 3. In 1979, he retired as a driver and founded Eddie Jordan Racing, a team that introduced the world to future motorsport stars such as Ayrton Senna, Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert, and Damon Hill.

In 1991, Jordan made his Formula 1 debut with his team, Jordan Grand Prix. His enthusiasm and business acumen helped attract sponsors and secure key contracts, including a deal with Cosworth. It was under Jordan's team that future seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher made his debut. The team achieved its greatest success in 1998 and 1999, including Damon Hill’s victory at Spa. Unfortunately, financial difficulties forced the sale of the team in 2005.

A man of many talents, Eddie was known for his charismatic personality and love of music. He played drums in his own rock band and even owned football and rugby teams.
One of Eddie’s greatest passions was yachting. A devoted yachtsman, he sailed around the world and actively participated in regattas. He owned several yachts, including the Oyster 885 Lush and the Oyster 495 Tuga, as well as two yachts named Blush—the motor yacht Sunseeker 155 and a 45-meter sloop by Perini Navi. Eddie was not just a client but also joined the board of directors of Oyster Yachts, playing an active role in the brand’s development. He hosted television programs about yachts and wrote a column for Boat International magazine under the catchy title 'Lippy from the Liffey.'
