The Turkish shipyard Norse Shipyard has announced the launch of the 67-meter yacht Azumi, a conversion project of a Japanese-built fishing and research vessel. The refit work began in October 2022 at the shipyard in Kocaeli.

Previously known as Kanazawa, the vessel was originally launched in 1998 by Sanuki Shipbuilding & Iron Works and served Japanese fishermen and researchers for decades.

In 2022, the vessel was sold to a new owner who decided to transform this hard-working ship into a luxurious expedition superyacht. The exterior design and naval architecture were commissioned by the owner and completed by the Canadian design studio Gregory C. Marshall.

While details of the project remain undisclosed, it is known that the refit includes extending the hull from 65.4 to 67 meters, redesigning the aft deck to feature a large swimming pool and swim platform, and laying a teak deck. Additionally, the yacht's gross tonnage is reported to be 945 GT, with its maximum beam increased to 10.8 meters.
