Wally has introduced its latest performance sailing yacht, the wallyrocket71. The boat debuted at the 2025 Loro Piana Giraglia regatta. The 21.6-meter maxi was developed by Wally's technical team in collaboration with designers Botin Partners and owner Giovanni Lombardi Stronati, and built by the King Marine shipyard.

The wallyrocket71 demonstrates Wally's unwavering commitment to innovation in the world of fast sailing yachts. It features dual rudders, a bulb keel, and a sophisticated 2.7-tonne hydro-ballast system that allows for ballast to be shifted from side to side in just six seconds. With a displacement of 12 tonnes, the yacht is approximately three tonnes lighter than its competitors in the Maxi 72 class while maintaining the same sail area.

During initial sea trials in Valencia, the yacht demonstrated impressive speeds of 10.5 to 11 knots while sailing upwind. “We started from a blank sheet of paper, asking how we could beat the most competitive Maxi 72s on corrected time,” says Adolfo Carrau from Botin Partners. “When they were designed, it was to a box rule, so many parameters were already set. Now, as everyone is optimising their boats under IRC rules, there is a lot more freedom.”

The racing crew, including tactician Vasco Vascotto and strategist Guillermo Parada, has praised the yacht's handling and speed.
Following its debut at the Loro Piana Giraglia, the wallyrocket71 will compete in major Mediterranean events, including the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo and Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
