Ocean Falcon, an ambitious superyacht conversion project built on the foundation of a commercial rescue vessel, is now listed for sale through Northrop & Johnson. Previously known as Project UFO, the vessel was initially set to undergo conversion at Lürssen. The plans included extending the vessel by four meters and transforming it into a luxury explorer yacht for charter. However, these plans were ultimately cancelled in 2024. Lürssen announced that, after a detailed review, its engineering team had encountered challenges that prevented them from fully meeting the expectations of all stakeholders. This was the second time the planned conversion was delayed, following an earlier proposal in 2022 by Icon Yachts to transform the vessel using designs by Murray & Associates and H2 Yacht Design, which also did not proceed.

Currently docked in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Ocean Falcon offers a rare opportunity for buyers to create a bespoke expedition yacht designed for limitless global exploration. Originally built as a commercial rescue vessel, the Ocean Falcon features an impressive 2,950 GT volume, providing a vast blank canvas for customization. With a robust foundation, the vessel is primed to combine functionality, innovation, and elegance, resulting in a truly unique explorer yacht.

Designed for long-range cruising, the vessel’s steel hull ensures durability and performance. Ocean Falcon boasts a cruising speed of 12.5 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots, making it ideal for extended voyages. With over €18 million already invested in the project and proposals from leading shipyards in place, prospective owners are well-positioned to bring this visionary concept to life.

Ocean Falcon’s expansive interior offers unparalleled opportunities for customization. Envision grand salons, luxurious staterooms, spa facilities, or even a private cinema. Alternatively, the vessel could be transformed into a state-of-the-art research platform, collaborative workspace, or a full-service wellness retreat. This unique blend of adventure and opulence makes Ocean Falcon the perfect choice for those looking to push the boundaries of conventional yachting.

Ocean Falcon is more than just a yacht—it’s a bold opportunity for visionaries, explorers, and innovators to create something truly extraordinary. Whether intended for private use, charter, or exploration, this project offers the chance to redefine the yachting experience.
Now, Ocean Falcon awaits a new owner to take the helm and realise its full potential. With its exceptional foundation and limitless possibilities, this vessel represents a rare opportunity to craft a one-of-a-kind explorer yacht that seamlessly blends adventure, luxury, and innovation.
