Novamarine Sells First BS 260 Maxi-RIB, Set to Become World’s Largest
Italian builder confirms landmark deal for 26-metre vessel ahead of 2028 delivery.
Italian boat builder Novamarine has confirmed the sale of the first unit in its BS 260 maxi-RIB series to a client in Italy. Measuring 26 metres in length with a seven-metre beam, the vessel is expected to become the world’s largest maxi-RIB upon its delivery in 2028.

The shipyard describes the BS 260 as redefining the boundaries of its category by merging the stability and safety of large RIBs with the comfort and livability typically found on larger yachts. The model represents the flagship of the company’s Black Shiver concept, a range that includes six RIBs spanning from the 10-metre BS 100 to the 20.1-metre BS 200.

The vessel features a low, taut and powerful profile, distinguished by a long, clean bow and a compact central superstructure. Francesco Pirro, chairman and CEO of Novamarine, called the sale a milestone for the company’s presence in the pleasure craft sector. He stated that with this model, the yard has not only designed the world’s largest maxi-RIB but also sought to establish new industry standards for technology and comfort.

Onboard, both the interior spaces and exterior decks are designed to be spacious, creating a welcoming and serene atmosphere. At the stern, a large open deck is dedicated to outdoor living, complete with fitted sofa seating and direct, easy access to the water. This area transitions into a protected central zone featuring twin sofas and a dining table, which benefits from natural light through large glazed side panels and overhead openings. The yard notes that this space was conceived not as an enclosed saloon but as a habitable and protected section of deck. Below deck, the layout includes three guest cabins and a fourth cabin for crew.

Propulsion comes from twin MTU engines producing a combined 4,400 horsepower, allowing to deliver high top speeds while maintaining precise handling even in demanding conditions.
