The United Arab Emirates is charting a course to become one of Asia’s premier yachting hubs, rolling out a series of new initiatives aimed at yacht owners.
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Yas Marina, has launched the Golden Quay to Abu Dhabi initiative. This program is designed to attract superyacht owners and key business figures to invest in the emirate through its long-term "Golden Visa" scheme.
The initiative targets owners of yachts exceeding 40 metres in length, along with their families, and key players in the yachting industry, including CEOs, shareholders of shipbuilding companies, and service providers. Yas Marina and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office will manage applications and provide dedicated support to applicants. Those who meet the criteria will be offered 10-year Golden Visas, granting long-term residency in Abu Dhabi with access to its dynamic business ecosystem, luxurious lifestyle, and world-class marinas.
Meanwhile, Dubai's Maritime Authority, in collaboration with the Department of Economy and Tourism, has introduced the Dock & Dine programme, featuring 20 of the emirate's leading marinas. The initiative offers complimentary berthing for up to four hours, with booking confirmations provided swiftly—anywhere from five minutes to one hour. Marina staff will be on hand to ensure a smooth and comfortable embarkation and disembarkation process. The programme also includes priority table reservations at partner restaurants.
Dock & Dine is expected to be particularly popular during Dubai's bustling high season, from October to April, when calm waters and a packed events calendar draw tourists from around the globe. Dubai's extensive marina network boasts over 4,000 berths, accommodating everything from small pleasure crafts to superyachts.
The launch coincides with the growing international acclaim of Dubai’s culinary scene: the fourth edition of the Michelin Guide Dubai, released this year, features 119 restaurants.
