Ferretti Yachts 720: Home wherever you are

The previous generation of the 720, which made its debut in 2019, has received a fresh interpretation for 2026, while retaining all the qualities that made it one of the most sought-after models in the Ferretti Yachts line-up.

The exterior is once again the work of architect Filippo Salvetti, the creator of Ferretti Yachts’ current brand identity, while the interiors have been entrusted to the designers at IdeaeItalia. Together with the engineering department of the Ferretti Group, they have carried out a tremendous amount of work, much of which is not immediately obvious, yet it is precisely this unseen effort that guarantees the utmost comfort for owner and guests alike. And therein lies the true mark of mature craftsmanship: not to dismantle what has already proven successful, but to enhance, to complement, and to place accents where they are genuinely needed.

The new Ferretti Yachts 720 clearly demonstrates how subtle development – the gentle evolution of a model – makes a yacht more comfortable, more spacious and brighter, without undermining its distinctive character.

The yacht’s profile has been cleaned up thanks to a revised waterline, while larger glazing has transformed the interior spaces. The boundaries between seascape and interior melt away, drawing you into a world where sun and water become genuine co-architects of the living space. On a clear day, glass in hand, you would be hard pressed to say where the warmth of the saloon ends and the endless sea begins.

The flybridge, generous for this class at 41 square metres, accommodates several distinct functional zones. To port, there is a dining area with a large sofa and an extendable table and a wet bar with provisions for a grill, an ice maker and a refrigerator, while behind the helm station there is a capacious stowage locker that was not present in the previous generation.

The forward part of the flybridge is given over to a huge full-beam sunbathing area, while the aft terrace can be furnished with free-standing pieces.

The hardtop has been given a slightly revised structure: the rotating louvres, familiar from the previous generation, now not only regulate sunlight but also significantly increase the shaded area. As a result, the flybridge becomes a space where one can spend time comfortably from morning until evening.

The sun ceases to be a factor that dictates the day’s schedule; instead, it becomes a modest co-author of your perfect day – you can invite the gentle rays of the morning sun onto the flybridge, close the louvres at the height of the heat, and then allow the light to return in the evening, now soft, velvety, and golden. Ferretti’s architects are gently acclimatising their clients to that quintessential Mediterranean way of life, where time is truly your own.

Noticeable changes have also taken place on the main deck following the restyle. Access to the saloon is now possible in three ways: through a hinged door to port (which can be opened even while under way) and through two sliding panels to starboard. This configuration allows the cockpit and saloon to be combined into a single, continuous space when the weather is favourable or to maintain privacy when required.

The principal innovation is the separation of the lounge from the galley and helm station area. A glass sliding door and an optional electrically operated drop-down window create a semi-enclosed environment. As a result, guests are not disturbed by radio chatter from the helm or the smells and clatter of the galley, while the crew can work freely and move about the yacht and communicate without distraction or fear of disturbing the guests’ peace.

In the saloon, every effort has been made to make you feel like a welcome guest. Two large sofas with soft cushions greet you at the entrance, inviting you to settle in comfortably, while behind their backs are capacious stowage compartments normally found on larger Ferretti Yacht models. In the centre of the saloon stands a teak dining table for eight. It feels just as right for a family breakfast as it does for a gathering of friends, when intimate conversations stretch long past midnight.

The design studio IdeaeItalia offers two interior décor options for the yacht. Classic – in earthy tones, with a warm, enveloping atmosphere. Contemporary – with lighter woods, shades of sea green, and fresh, almost translucent fabrics. The owner of the first hull opted for the Contemporary version.

Parquet flooring on the main deck and stairways, sofa upholstery in Zimmer + Rohde fabrics, Poltrona Frau armchairs in the wheelhouse – these touches create an atmosphere that combines luxury and tranquillity. Nothing ostentatious, only what is needed for genuine comfort.

The master cabin deserves a special mention. Located in the very heart of the yacht, it has received, like the saloon, not only larger glazing but also a slightly rethought layout. To port, a desk and chair; to starboard, a sofa and access to the walk-in wardrobe, concealed behind a sliding door. Adjacent is the en suite bathroom. Here, as in the other cabins, stowage space has been noticeably increased – allowing you to unpack as you would at home, sacrificing neither a working corner nor a relaxation area. And therein lies the principal idea of the new 720: to transform the yacht into a space where nothing is superfluous, yet everything that makes a house a home is present.

The forward VIP cabin also has its own en suite bathroom, while the two guest cabins (in one of which the twin beds can be combined into a double) share a day head that is accessible both from the cabins and from the corridor.

The crew cabin has direct access from the cockpit, its own bathroom, a laundry and – importantly for maintenance – direct access to the engine room.

The power plant on the new Ferretti Yachts 720 is offered in two configurations: standard – two MAN V8s of 1200 hp each (maximum speed 28 knots, cruising speed 24 knots); optional – two MAN V12s of 1400 hp each, propelling the yacht to 32 knots and allowing a cruising speed of 28 knots.

Ground tackle has been made even more reliable: the twin anchors, traditional to this Ferretti Yachts model, are now complemented by strengthened chains. Comfort under way and at anchor is ensured by a Seakeeper NG10 gyroscopic stabiliser, while the WATCHIT Antigrounding system warns of the risk of running aground – an option familiar from the brand’s models since 2022.

The updated Ferretti Yachts 720 is an example of how a model that has already earned worldwide acclaim ought to evolve. Without straining, without attempting to rewrite its own history. With respect for what worked, and with an understanding of what could be made better. And in this careful update lies the main point: the yacht becomes not merely a place for holidays but a home that is always with you. One that you can take on any voyage, without changing your habits, without sacrificing comfort, without losing that feeling of cosiness. That is the very freedom for which people put to sea: the ability to be at home, anywhere.
