Emotional spectre
The shipyard and the carmaker had previously joined forces to create the striking Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom runabout. But this latest collaboration reaches a new level: at a combined booth, the two brands unveiled the electric Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre, while right next to the boat sat a concept car created specially for the occasion—the Macan Turbo Concept Lago, masterfully crafted by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
Frauscher fans have every reason to be pleased: the 790 Spectre embodies everything enthusiasts love about the Austrian builder. Its signature futuristic design, outstanding performance, and uncompromising on-board comfort come together in a next-generation hull that blurs the line between sporting thrill and serene relaxation.
Representatives of the Austrian yard emphasise that the 790 Spectre was designed from the outset around the Porsche Macan Turbo powertrain. At its heart lies a 100 kWh high-voltage battery and a 400‑kW motor taken from the German electric car. For these components, Frauscher engineers developed a new lightweight 7.97‑metre hull that unlocks the drive module’s full potential. The result: outstanding dynamics (top speed up to 50 knots) and impressive energy efficiency.
Charging the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre’s battery from 10 to 80 per cent takes less than half an hour. At a cruising speed of 22 knots, the boat can cover up to 45 kilometres without recharging. If you opt for a relaxed displacement pace instead of chasing the horizon, the range exceeds one hundred kilometres, promise Frauscher’s engineers. That is more than enough to escape the bustle of the wider world in a secluded bay and return when you feel like it, not because you have to.
Light, swift, and impeccably stylish—this is what a true sports boat of the future should be.
It is worth noting that Porsche’s influence on board the 790 Spectre extends well beyond the powertrain. The boat’s design is infused with the German brand’s aesthetic. The five-dial instrument panel is a direct nod to the legendary 911, and the start button on the left side of the helm is another trademark Zuffenhausen touch.
The feeling of sitting inside a sports car lies in the details: a steering wheel wrapped in Porsche’s signature eco-leather, seats embroidered with the crest, and a rear bench with vertical stitching that precisely echoes the seat design in the Macan crossover.
Just as the boat borrows elements of automotive design, its stand neighbour, the Macan Turbo Concept Lago, embraces a maritime aesthetic. The concept car’s cargo areas are finished in yacht-grade veneer, evoking deck planking, and a genuine compass takes the place of the usual sports chronograph in the cabin. Even the seat fabric is marine-quality, matching the main Crayon leather upholstery.
This dialogue between two worlds continues in the hull colour. Both the boat and car are finished in the same deep dark teal metallic, a shade from Porsche’s exclusive Paint to Sample programme. This multi‑layer finish is also available to Frauscher customers: the brand integration extends to the ability to choose any colour from the German carmaker’s palette.
"The Macan Turbo Concept Lago and the 790 Spectre take the collaboration between Frauscher and Porsche to a new level,” said Jörg Kerner, Porsche’s Vice President of the Macan model line. “Together with our Austrian colleagues, we are showing how E‑performance, design and personalisation can merge into a single experience—not separating the brands, but bringing them closer together.”
That said, Frauscher remains true to its philosophy: behind the sporty, aggressive design and high‑tech core, they have not forgotten what truly matters—the people on board. The boat is equally at home when you need to dash to a sundowner in the next marina or when you simply want to drop anchor and soak up the surrounding tranquillity.
A spacious cockpit with a comfortable sofa, an open stern with easy water access—there is something to suit any time of day. In the morning, you can dive off the side; later, bask in the still‑gentle sun on the warm teak deck or soft sun pads. After lunch, settle in with a book under the bimini shade, and in the evening, watch the sunset with soft music and prosecco served in Frauscher’s signature unbreakable glasses. Thoughtful storage solutions, wireless device charging and USB‑C ports, a drinks fridge, and a fresh‑water shower at the stern are integrated into the design without disturbing the visual harmony. Everything is at hand, everything in its place—from the minimalist helm to the smallest finishing detail.
A month after the Düsseldorf boat show closed, the “engineers of emotion” decided to make themselves heard again. In late February, the shipyard’s website featured an announcement of the 790’s petrol-powered twin—the Frauscher 797 Spectre—along with photos of the new model planing across the clear waters of Lake Traunsee in the Alps. The images instantly spread across social media and specialist websites.
The 797 Spectre has not yet had an official premiere, and the yard is releasing details sparingly, but key specifications are already known. Power comes from a petrol V8 from Mercury. Future owners can choose between two versions: 6.2 litres with 350 hp or 8.2 litres with 430 hp. The standard package for the 790 already includes anti‑fouling hull coating, a teak table, and a stern shower.
The question currently on many minds: will the electric version generate as much buzz as its petrol twin? On one hand, the 790 Spectre is a technological breakthrough carrying the prestigious Porsche name. On the other, Frauscher’s audience tends to be conservative and values proven solutions. The V8’s rumble, instant response, and complete independence from charging stations remain the only right choice for many.
The 790 and 797 models are not opposing forces but two self‑sufficient answers to the same question: what should the ideal boat be?
According to our information, the official debut of the 797 Spectre will take place from May 27 to 30 at the Venice Yacht Festival. The city on water will provide the perfect stage to see both Spectre versions side by side—to compare, listen to your instincts, and finally decide which character suits you best. The silence of an electric motor or the growl of a V8? A glance toward the future or confidence in the present? Come to Venice and choose your spectre.
