Louis Vuitton has introduced a remarkable collaboration with renowned watchmaker Kari Voutilainen—the LVKV-02 GMR 6 chronograph, a timepiece dedicated to the art of travel.

This exclusive limited-edition model is based on the Louis Vuitton Escale watch and features a 40.5mm tantalum case with platinum accents. The name and design pay homage to Louis Vuitton’s deep roots in crafting luxury travel goods. The lugs of the watch are reminiscent of the metal corners found on the brand’s iconic leather trunks and suitcases.

The designation GMR 6 further reflects Louis Vuitton’s travel heritage: the letter "R" represents the power reserve indicator, while the "6" refers to the location of the sub-dial displaying the second time zone. The GMT disk is designed to track the owner’s "home" time, while the central hour hand can be quickly adjusted with a single click of the crown during travel.

At the heart of the golden dial lies intricate hand-guilloché work, crafted at Brodbeck’s atelier using 18th-century tools. This creates a unique and complex pattern inspired by Louis Vuitton’s Damier motif and Kari Voutilainen’s signature wave design.

The main scale, resembling both a kaleidoscope and the stained glass of historic cathedrals, features bold hour markers hand-painted in 28 different colors. This meticulous process, carried out by master artist Marina Bossi at La Fabrique des Arts, requires over 32 hours of dedicated work. On the lower sub-dial, the day-night disk is adorned with hand-engraved sun and moon motifs shaped like Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram flower, rendered in saffron and blue tones.

Only five pieces of this extraordinary model will be produced, each presented in a handcrafted trunk made in Louis Vuitton’s iconic workshop in Asnières.
