The German studio Structurelab Architects has unveiled a concept for a modular yacht dock designed for Calanque de Sormiou, one of the largest bays in southern France.

The floating structure, named Lotus Marina, spans 400 square meters and consists of several modules that can be used as hotel rooms, commercial spaces, or open areas. An open-air restaurant at the water's edge will serve as the main attraction for yachts, while the centre of the complex will feature an event space and a bar.

The designers promise that technologies that do not harm the marine ecosystem will be used to keep the platform in place. The space will be equipped with solar panels and a rainwater collection and recycling system to minimise energy and water consumption. The structures will be made from recyclable materials.

Lotus Marina is designed for vessels up to 24 meters in length; however, according to designer Jürgen Schubert, the project is easily scalable and can be implemented in other regions.

The concept was first presented as an entry for the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous competition, organised by Monaco Marina Management.
