Rebel on the water: SACS Rebel 50G
In terms of safety and capacity, the Rebel 50G—with its cabin, two bedrooms, and exceptional manoeuvrability—offers the experience of a 20-meter yacht in the shape of a 15-meter cruiser.

RIB or not RIB, that is the question. The Rebel line is produced by Sacs Marine, one of Italy's leading manufacturers of rigid inflatable boats (that's what RIB stands for), yet their vessels do not incorporate inflatable tubes in their design. Instead, the hulls of Rebel cruisers feature convex compartments filled with special foam. This approach eliminates issues related to punctures or air leaks from delaminated seams. It maintains the same wide hull, ensuring safety on the water, smooth docking, and impressive capacity akin to that of a typical RIB.

The 50G is the latest model in the Rebel range, having made a successful debut in 2024 at the boat shows in Düsseldorf and Cannes. This 15-metre cruiser comfortably accommodates up to 18 people. The engineers and designers at Sacs Marine have expertly configured the deck and cabin, meticulously considering every area.

The wide and safe boarding platform, equipped with a retractable ladder, is fully clad in teak. Behind it lies a sunbed with three loungers. The show model features a glossy, charcoal-grey sunbed that looks particularly elegant against the backdrop of the light, matte teak deck. With the press of a button, the sunbed rises to reveal a garage housing a 2.5-metre tender. Large speakers are integrated into the side panels, and a comfortable sofa adjoins the sunbed at the front.

You can also order different layout options for this area. The Forward Lounge version features a horseshoe-shaped sofa with a folding table in the centre, which can be covered with a cushion to transform the entire grouping into a large sunbathing area. The Stern Lounge consists of two sofas along the sides and a table that can also be combined. However, if you prefer, you could forgo the sunbathing area (after all, there’s another one at the bow!) and opt for a Free-Standing combination of three comfortable chairs and two small tables.

The cabin is glazed on three sides. There is an option to increase the height of the side windows to the edge of the hardtop and to install sliding transparent doors at the rear. The roof features a louvred hatch that regulates light and airflow. A fully enclosed cabin with a climate control system is an excellent solution for hot climates (such as the Caribbean or the Persian Gulf) or cold and rainy weather. In any case, the interior provides a panoramic view.

A hatch in the teak floor of the cabin leads to the engine compartment. It is spacious enough for a large adult man to move around freely if engine repairs are required.

The majority of the interior space is dedicated to a relaxation area featuring a corner sofa and a folding table along the starboard side, complemented by a dresser with storage options and an ice maker. Positioned between the backrest of the side section of the sofa and the captain's chair is a wide panel that houses a built-in refrigerator and a retractable television screen.

The dashboard is equipped with three Raymarine displays, which are mirrored by buttons and analogue instruments. The cruiser, powered by Volvo Penta IPS drives, can be controlled using a joystick.

At the bow lies the designer Christian Grande's favourite relaxation area, which features a sunbed that transitions into two loungers, perfect for reclining while watching the sunset, sipping cocktails, and enjoying music. This space is comparable in size to the lounge on the foredeck of a yacht over 20 meters long.

The triangular cabin, boasting ceiling heights of over 2 meters, occupies the forward section of the vessel. It is bright inside, thanks to two long windows along the sides. The cabin features a tall, impressively large bed and a convenient wardrobe. A television is integrated into the mirror. The flooring in the bathroom and the sink is adorned with natural marble, while the shower offers a true tropical rainfall experience with multiple streams.

Adjacent to the staircase, the wall features a built-in microwave, a dishwasher, and an additional refrigerator. Most importantly, beneath the stairs is a second cabin, equipped with two full-sized beds, each 90 cm wide. With the press of a button, the beds slide together at the centre and connect.

The 50G is technically superb. Unlike other models from Rebel, this one comes with fixed engines. The pair of Volvo Penta D13-IPS 950 engines delivers a total power output of 1,450 horsepower, along with all the advantages of the IPS drives, including an easy docking system. Additionally, the maxi-RIB is fitted with a stabiliser from Quick.

This is an excellent option for a southern resort: you can dock it, come back for weekend getaways or holidays, and not worry during the week about potential damage in a crowded marina. An overnight sea trip will be a breeze for this vessel, and its design is so impressive that it elevates the owner's status even among those who may not be yacht enthusiasts. For those who are knowledgeable, the impact will be even greater.
