The first production Global 8000 jet gracefully took to the skies in Mississauga, Canada, following a series of tests that confirmed its readiness for ultra-long-range flights. The new flagship reaches speeds of up to Mach 0.94 (and in a controlled dive back in 2021, it even broke the sound barrier, reaching Mach 1.105!) and is capable of covering distances up to 14,600 kilometers.
The Global 8000 is an advanced evolution of Bombardier's top-tier Global 7500 model. Engineers have refined the wing design to increase fuel capacity and, consequently, extend its range. Additionally, updates to the software of its General Electric Passport engines have optimized fuel efficiency and boosted maximum speed by 33 knots.
Bombardier proudly claims that the Global 8000 will feature the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet, ensuring passengers experience unparalleled comfort. The cabin is also set to be the most spacious in its class, offering four customizable zones. Particularly impressive is the rear fuselage bedroom, which includes a full-size bed, a large wardrobe, a 32-inch TV, bedside tables, and lounge chairs.
Bombardier has promised to deliver the jet to its first customer by the end of the year.
