Turkey's Norse Shipyard has announced the launch of the 67 metre yacht Azumi, a conversion project of a Japanese-built fishing and research vessel. The conversion work began in October 2022 at the Kocaeli shipyard. Formerly known as Kanazawa, the vessel was first launched by Sanuki Shipbuilding & Iron Works in 1998 and served Japanese fishermen and researchers for decades. In 2022 she was sold to a new owner who decided to convert her into a luxury expedition superyacht. The exterior design and naval architecture were commissioned by the owner from Canadian design studio Gregory C. Marshall. The works included lengthening the hull from 65.4 meters to 67 meters, redesigning the aft deck with a large pool and swim platform, and laying a teak deck.
