Wallywhy100: pleasure starship

"Our Line of Spaceships"—this is how the shipyard behind the wallywhy series describes its three models. Imagine the iconic scenes from Star Wars, where the command bridge of a massive starship—whether of the Imperial fleet or the Rebels—features a vast glass space with breathtaking views of endless stars. While such advancements remain a dream for space exploration, Wally yachts bring this vision closer to reality. Both the main salon and master suite on these yachts feature floor-to-ceiling glass, offering an unmatched sense of openness and freedom.
Luca Bassani, Wally’s founder and chief designer, highlights four key features of Wally yachts: futuristic design, panoramic glass, spacious interiors, and high performance with easy handling. The wide hull, vertical bow, and stealth bomber-like superstructure give these yachts a unique and striking appearance. The smallest model, the two-deck wallywhy100, combines these signature features with the best qualities of the wallypower58 cruiser. It stands out for its compact size (though 21 meters is far from small) and versatility, making it suitable for various uses.
Bassani explains that the yacht’s bold exterior design is driven by functionality. The enclosed cabin is positioned forward to maximise space for socialising and relaxing. This design gives the wallywhy100 its sleek and aggressive look, further enhanced by a spacious beach area at the back and a high, slightly angled bow. The bow not only adds to the yacht’s style but also protects against spray and ensures safe navigation in all weather conditions.
Unlike other yachts of similar size, which create the illusion of space by using multiple floor levels, Wally’s team opted for a completely flat main deck. Only the transformable beach club sits three steps lower, closer to the water. The coach roof extends far enough to fully shade the cockpit, while large sections of the roof are glazed, and the faceted windscreen at the helm offers panoramic views. The main deck is a hybrid space where the salon, helm station, cockpit, and swim platform blend seamlessly. This setup allows you to enjoy the surroundings and socialise in any weather.
The wallywhy100 has a 14-square-meter beach area with a swim platform that can lower into the water to launch or retrieve water toys and tenders up to 3.6 meters long. A hydraulic gangway extends from the platform, making it easy to reach the shore or dive into the water. Fold-out bulwarks increase the beach area by 50% and provide stunning views in three directions.
Two wide sun loungers are placed on the steps leading to the cockpit, partially shaded by the salon roof. They are perfect for relaxing with music and enjoying the view. For sunbathing, portable chairs can be put on the fold-out bulwarks or on the foredeck, which serves as a versatile lounge. In port, this area is ideal for enjoying cocktails in privacy. Remove the table and add a cushion, and it transforms into a comfortable sunbed.
The cockpit features two wide sofas under the overhang, providing seating for up to 20 people—perfect for hosting parties. During family cruising or smaller gatherings, the sofas can be removed to create space for a treadmill, stationary bike, or free weights. The dining area features a circular table supported by simple cylindrical legs, paired with sleek, black-and-white metal chairs. This space is perfect for meals, meetings, or even a late-night poker game. It feels comfortable and welcoming, just like home. On calm, warm days, the aft doors can be opened to merge the interior with the outdoors. The transparent ceiling and sliding side doors ensure constant contact with the surrounding sea.
Beyond the dining area is another lounge with panoramic views, offering a cosy retreat in bad weather. At the front of the superstructure is the helm station with two chairs. Two separate staircases lead below deck to the guest cabins, crew quarters, and galley.
The full-beam master suite, located amidships, features a king-size bed and a large panoramic window to starboard for stunning views. The port side has an en-suite bathroom with a glass partition that can be made opaque for privacy at the press of a button. Built-in wardrobes provide ample storage for long trips. The guest accommodation includes a VIP cabin on the port side and a twin cabin on the starboard side, each with its own en-suite bathroom and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The interiors, designed by Rome-based Vallicelli Design Studio, are modern and minimalist. Warm wood panelling on the walls and ceilings pairs beautifully with white floors and black-framed glass partitions.
The wallywhy100 comes standard with three Volvo D13 IPS1200 engines, delivering a total of 2,700 horsepower. An optional upgrade to D13 IPS1350 engines increases the output to 3,000 horsepower, enabling a top speed of over 27 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. However, this upgrade reduces the range from 360 nautical miles to 340. The IPS system includes joystick controls, making docking simple, even in crowded marinas. The Assisted Docking feature ensures smooth and precise manoeuvring, adding to the yacht’s ease of use.
This 70-foot crossover appeals to both newcomers exploring yachts over 20 meters and experienced boaters looking for a stylish and practical vessel. Whether a dayboat or a tender for a larger yacht, the wallywhy100 combines futuristic design, innovative features, and luxurious comfort, redefining the yachting experience.
