European Powerboat of the Year is an annual award recognising the best boats and yachts released during the year. The winners are determined by a team of independent experts representing leading European yachting magazines: Boote (Germany), BoatMag (Italy), Nautica (Spain), Yachting World (UK), and Batliv (Scandinavia).

How are the winners chosen?

The selection process begins with the nomination of new models released since the previous year’s exhibition. The jury then tests the boats in real-world conditions, evaluating them based on the following criteria:

  1. Innovation and Technology: Use of new materials, control systems, and construction solutions.
  2. Performance: speed, manoeuvrability, stability, and comfort on the water.
  3. Design: aesthetics, ergonomics, and ease of use.
  4. Functionality: How well the boat meets the needs of its users.
  5. Value for Money: Justification of cost relative to its features.
  6. Environmental Impact: Energy efficiency and minimisation of environmental harm.

After testing and discussions, the jury conducts a final vote to determine the winners in five categories, ranging from small boats to yachts up to 24 meters in length.
