Just over a week after making waves online with its new logo, the iconic luxury car brand Jaguar has unveiled a bold vision for its future in Miami—introducing Type 00.

Type 00 (pronounced "Type Zero-Zero") represents the culmination of a multi-year initiative aimed at transitioning the British automaker away from fossil fuels towards electric power. In February 2021, Jaguar Land Rover announced its commitment to cease petrol vehicle production under the Jaguar brand by 2025.

The vehicles showcased in Miami, rendered in striking pink and blue, are conceptual models and not available for purchase or pre-order. They symbolise Jaguar's intentions and the dawn of a new chapter.

The first "0" in Type 00 signifies Jaguar's dedication to zero emissions, while the second "0" indicates the beginning of a transformative era for the company. Jaguar aims to disrupt the electric vehicle (EV) market with its Type 00 concept, which embodies a departure from traditional design norms. The long hood, sweeping roofline, and boattail are visual markers of this new design philosophy, termed Exuberant Modernism, which Jaguar hopes will differentiate its vehicles in an increasingly uniform EV landscape.

The side profile is characterised by bold proportions, and features like the glassless tailgate and panoramic roof are described as creating a sculptural effect, making the future cars not just electric vehicles but also immersive experiences. Interestingly, Jaguar claims that this aesthetic evolution will help it reclaim the essence of its brand, harking back to the vision of its founder, Sir William Lyons, who believed that Jaguar cars should be “copies of nothing” and regarded as art. The new slogan, “Copy Nothing,” is a nod to Lyons’ philosophy.

This comprehensive rebranding effort, which includes the new logo and marketing strategy, has sparked considerable debate among Jaguar enthusiasts and the press. Jaguar intends to unveil its first vehicle from this new exuberant modernism era in late 2025. It will be a four-door GT capable of achieving up to 770 km (478 miles) on the WLTP cycle or 430 miles (692 km) on the EPA cycle on a single charge. The company has also highlighted the rapid charging capabilities of this future EV, claiming that users can gain 321 km (200 miles) of range in just 15 minutes of charging.
