If you want to escape from routine and quench your thirst for speed, adventure and a beautiful life, the WiLder 60 is just the ticket. It seems that Marcello Maggi's shipyard, having earned its reputation for hybrid-propulsion multihulls, has decided to take a little time out for a high-speed cruiser (aiming to attract a new clientele, of course). By wittily adding the letter L to the brand name, they've got ‘rawness’ instead of ‘width’.
The WiLder 60 is built entirely in aluminium and has a shallow draft of 1.11m. The yard swears the boat behaves like a predator in its prime in all weather conditions, has enviable stability, and extremely low levels of noise and vibration. Caribbean bays, busy Gulf marinas and Mediterranean hot spots await this macho yacht.
The yacht looks elegant and expensive. Slightly angular deckhouse, futuristic inverted bow, classic reverse fairing all form modern aesthetics with a Gran Tourismo flair. Supercar elements like intake vents in the engine bay, wide rear end with low underbody hint at power and poise. Although the yacht's profile is low, there's plenty of room inside.
There are two cockpits on deck, similar in size and layout. The large forward area is occupied by two opposite settees. A table can be placed between them. One of them is adjacent to a huge sunbed. A place aft above the swim platform is occupied by a wide chaise longue, forward of this under the hardtop are the dining group of two settees with table, wetbar and side chaise longue.
The helm station with two leather seats is designed in a modern style. Attention is drawn to the dashboard a la 80s, cream with black and red, with three Garmin touch screens, numerous buttons, toggle switches and toggle switches and speakers. The steering wheel with futuristic spokes and the rim in red vinyl to match the seats is spectacular.
The layout of the lower deck of the first hull includes a spacious master cabin with bathroom forward, two guest cabins aft, a shared bathroom with shower, and a saloon with galley. On request, one of the cabins can be converted into a crew quarters.
The interior can be completely customised to suit your wishes. That's why every WiLder 60 hull is unique. The attention to detail and the quality of the finishing touches are of the superyacht level. The WiLder philosophy is that everything should be adaptable and tailored to the owner's needs, like a good made-to-measure suit.
The lighting on board, both natural and artificial, has been carefully considered. It plays a special role in creating a cosy atmosphere in the cabins and saloon. The materials used in the interior seem simple only at a superficial glance. They are distinguished by their complex, rich textures, be it the floors made of bleached oak planks in a warm grey-brown shade, the wall panels made of Krion (a light acrylic material that convincingly imitates stone) in a shade of coffee and cream and the satin bronze of the fittings. The sink in the master suite bathroom is in the form of a ribbed bowl in grey crystal. The black Gessi mixer taps contrast with the white glossy wall covering. The front wall in the salon of the first hull appears scratched — the deliberate roughness of the hand-finishing only emphasises the texture of the stone and leather.
The first hull is equipped with inboard engines. Twin MAN V8s capable of 1300 hp each coupled to surface drives propel the WiLder 60 to a top speed of 40 kn and a cruising speed of 35 kn with a range of 240 nm. A bow and stern thrusters, a dynamic positioning system and two Quick MC2 X19 stabilisers (optional) make the cruising on WiLder 60 an easy and stress-free experience.
Good news for those who prefer outboards! The WiLder 60 with four Mercury Verado 600 motors was unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The cruiser is aimed at the American market and is capable of the same 40 kn speed.
Maggi says he wanted to show everyone in the market how to achieve a high degree of customisation even in a modest 60ft boat. Well, he succeeded.
